Best time to visit Keukenhof gardens 2017-Holland
Keukenhof meaning “Kitchen Garden” also known as Garden of Europe, has a glorious history. It spreads over 200 hectares. From Ottoman Empire, the tulips bulbs and seeds were distributed to Amsterdam from Vienna by the Sultan of Turkey. As the history goes, a Tulip mania was a period of Dutch Golden Age.
Keukenhof opens annually from mid-March to mid-May every year.
Did you know “Tulip mania” was the first ever economic bubble in the history of humankind? Or at least I think so, don’t quote me on that.
The year of 2016 was the 67th edition of Keukenhof, with the Golden Age theme. It was mesmerizing to be around all prettiness everywhere. Though 2016 spring was unusually cold, the tulip gardens were not in its prime, at the time of my visit. But the much I saw was just enough to steal my heart.
Things you can do at Keukenhof Tulip Gardens
You can discover the surrounding areas by walking, renting a bike or taking a gondola ride. Enjoy the spectacular view of tulip fields and the garden from the windmill tower. The beautiful colors of nature on the planet earth.
Keukenhof flower gardens have a cafeteria and restroom along with wifi. If you are vegetarian, there isn’t much of an option and especially if you are traveling with kids, be sure to carry some vegetarian munchies.
Funny note: I learned at the end of my trip, that there is a provision of cell subscriber which can work throughout Europe! Your best option is to get a Vodafone or any other service provider card from the airport by sharing your travel plans so they can guide you with the best calling card and usage type.
